Do not return to Rome is a personal account of the universal city, written with images and illustrated with words. After living in the center of Rome in the 70s, 80s and 90s, ten years in all, Carlos Spottorno returns to it despite the warnings of his local friends, who assure him that the city is worse than ever. However, nostalgia for his own youth, fascination with the boundless beauty of Roman streets, serve as balm for the inevitable clash with a thousand-year-old city that has been dying for so long that we have ended up declaring it eternal.
