Música de un pozo azul
Nedreaas, Torborg
Bergen, at the beginning of the 20th century. When summer comes to an end, Herdis, a girl of about ten, attends the end of what had been her world until then: her parents divorce at the time of the First World War. The echoes of the conflict reach their ears through the conversations of adults: fear, greed, social resentment, and soon, in Russia, a revolution... Faced with the din of the adult world, cruel and full of lies and pretenses, Herdis, dreamy and lonely, she takes shelter in the gloom and looks for her own music. The dazzling nature, a melody that arises from the most unexpected elements, a blank book to write her poems and her new bicycle will be her only authentic company. With delicate wisdom and captivating precision, Torborg Nedreaas offers us a prodigious symphony, poetic and revealing. At the rhythm of the various movements -walkers, scherzos, adages: Nedreaas knows them well, since this novel is largely autobiographical- many things happen and none. For in this book, as Walt Whitman wrote, "the palpable is in its place / and the impalpable too": everything that Herdis's heart, voice or hands fail to express will be expressed by his senses, exceptionally open to harmony of nature, which gives you an almost unbearable joy. Without a doubt, the extraordinary likes solitude.
