Premi Sant Jordi 2021

Belbel, Sergi

Ernest Calvo, the son of an immigrant family from the south of Spain, was born in an industrial city in the provinces of Barcelona, where he grew up and integrated as one of the others. As he recounts with nostalgia and humor the time that spans his childhood years to his youth -when he discovers a culture and a language that both fascinate and disturb him-, he confesses to his best friend, the son of a working Catalan family, humble and modest, having committed a series of murders between the coup d'état in February 1981 and the 1992 Barcelona Olympics. From his relationship with him, Ernest will have to face the contradictions of a society that sees his life threatened. survival, in the process of change and search for itself, like the protagonist himself.
