Misión economía

una guía para cambiar el capitalismo

Mazzucato, Mariana

Reaching the Moon was an extraordinary achievement that required new forms of collaboration between the public and private sectors, a very high level of commitment and coordination, and the acceptance of very high risks and expenses to achieve a long-term goal. Drawing inspiration from the missions of the lunar program, Mazzucato proposes that that same level of innovation be applied to a number of key social, economic and political goals in order to break out of our stalemate towards a more optimistic future. Capitalism has long been paralyzed and does not offer answers to our greatest problems, such as epidemics, inequality and the environmental crisis. There is a need to rethink the role of the States in the economy and society, to orient budgets to the long term and to regain a sense of public interest. Mission Economy, whose ideas are already being embraced around the world, aims to set inspiring and exciting goals, including widely shared prosperity, quality public services for all, and a solution to the climate crisis. According to Mazzucato, States can face great challenges and ambitious missions, and his vision offers a way out of our immobility towards a more optimistic future.
