Mis años con Juan Pablo II
notas personales
Navarro-Valls, Joaquín
On the forty-fifth anniversary of the election of John Paul II, this work contains the personal notes that Joaquín Navarro-Valls took during his years as spokesman for the Pope. The book offers an unprecedented look behind the scenes of the daily work of the Holy See, reveals some of the great problems of humanity that worried the Holy Father so much and, above all, gives us many details of his daily life and family situations. Particularly emotional are the descriptions of the summer rest periods, illustrated with photographs taken by the author himself, which are now coming to light for the first time. Navarro-Valls wanted the book to be published some time after his death, "in case he interests someone." Actually, the work captures the reader's interest from the first moment and shows how the Pope, to exercise his leadership, had no other human instruments other than simple persuasion. Navarro-Valls was convinced that his main objective was to support the Pope, even knowing that John Paul II did not need that help because he was such a powerful communicator that he "went off the screen".
