Mestiza

Mestiza

Armentrout, Jennifer L.

The Hematoi are born from the union between mortals and gods. The pure, children of two Hematoi, possess divine powers. But the mestizos, the result of the union between Hematoi and humans, do not suffer the same fate. They have only two options: be trained as Sentinels to hunt and kill daimons or become retainers in the service of the pure. Alexandria is a half-breed and she would rather risk her life fighting than waste it cleaning toilets, though she may end up living like the poor anyway. There are several rules that students at the Covenant, the academy where Sentinels are trained, must follow. Alex has serious problems with all of them, especially with the most important one: relations between pure and half-breeds are prohibited. Unfortunately, she is in love with Aiden, a handsome pureblood. But that's not her biggest problem: staying alive long enough to graduate from the Covenant and become a Sentinel is. If she fails in her duty, she faces a future worse than death or slavery: becoming a daimon and being hunted by Aiden. And that would be horrible.
