la transformación democrática de Córdoba
Trigo, Herminio
The arrival of democracy in the City Council of Córdoba with the victory of Julio Anguita's PCE in the municipal elections of 1979 allowed the formation of the first corporation elected by the citizens since the time of the Republic, which meant a radical change in politics and in the municipal management. Herminio Trigo, who would take over as mayor in the key period between 1986 and 1995, details in the pages the reality of politics and municipal management of Córdoba on its way to democratic development. His management at the head of the town hall marked the beginning of a deep and necessary transformation, aimed at correcting the deficiencies that the city had been dragging for years: infrastructures, provision of equipment of all kinds, the promotion of culture and, above all, a different way of governing based on citizen participation. The author dedicates a large part of this volume to the most important project carried out during his mandate: the railway layout of the AVE line. The execution of this work would unleash a strong political confrontation that would last for much of his mandate, but it would also eliminate the century-old barrier that divided the city into two very unequal realities and transform it into a modern Córdoba on a par with the great capitals. cultural.
