Benson and Mike are a gay couple living in Houston. Benson is African American and works as a teacher at a daycare center. Mike is of Japanese origin and is a chef at a Mexican restaurant. Their existence together begins to show some cracks and to be threatened by monotony. That monotony will be broken by a series of not exactly happy events that will shake their lives. Mike's mother comes to visit from Osaka at the very moment he receives the news that his father - who also lives in Osaka, although separated from her mother for a long time - is suffering from cancer. She decides to go visit him without further delay and leaves her mother with Benson, both of them becoming strange roommates. Meanwhile, Benson also has to deal with the health of his father, threatened by alcoholism that begins to endanger his life. Separated by thousands of miles, Mike and Benson will be confronted with the past of their respective families and with some secrets related to it. And they will live new experiences, and meet other people, who will question the relationship they maintain...
