Violence and destiny trap the two central characters of this novel. Luke, a member of the Organization, participated in the murder of a young lieutenant of the Civil Guard whose authorship was hidden. Tormented by that memory and the guilt, and once the sentence imposed for other attacks has been served, he makes the decision to confess his crime to the agent's widow, Marisol, express his regret and beg her forgiveness, aware that this means putting his hands the possibility of reburying his life in prison. But their meeting will unexpectedly break Luke's expectations: mute and dazzled by Marisol, he finds himself unable to carry out her plan of confessing that he had been one of her husband's murderers. The mutual attraction that both experience opens the way to an unexpected flash of love. Together they will experience something akin to happiness. Luke becomes convinced that his dedicated dedication to Marisol and his victim's son could redeem him from his crime. However, remorse, coupled with the burden of being forced to hide his past, plunge Luke into a crisis that will irreversibly deteriorate his relationship. Unable to conceive of his future without Marisol and at the same time living with the memory of what he did, Luke feels that life seems to ignore him, and that his options are perhaps reduced to only one...
