Hollywood costume and makeup artist Jeany Lin travels to Arkham to work on enigmatic director Sydney Fitzmaurice's new "nightmare movie" starring Renee Love, Lin's sister and Sydney's collaborator and lover. Desperate to overcome the thrills and terror of Lon Chaney's popular films, Sydney prepares mystical dream sequences for Love and her co-stars. But there is much more than mere imagery at play, as the cast suffers recurring nightmares, accidents and impossible visions. When events take a sinister turn and people begin to die on the set, Jeany must unmask the monsters before Sydney's obsession dooms them all.
