Maquetos
una historia escrita para que nadie olvide
Díez, Rosa
Written from the heart and memory, Maquetos is the story of three generations of a family, that of Rosa Díez, who were treated like strangers in the Basque Country. It is an example of how Francoism, first, and nationalism, later, designated as foreigners (models) those who came to that land from other parts of Spain, expelled from their homes due to the hardships of the war or looking for a better life, something that has continued from generation to generation. Beyond the political events in which the story is framed and the events that took place in those years, the author conveys with deep emotion the pain for the double injustice suffered by many thousands of compatriots whom the Franco regime considered bad Spaniards and nationalism pointed out as bad Basques. A must read. A story written so that no one forgets.
