Manual de fundamentos del Diseño Gráfico
fundamentos de la imagen gráfica y la comunicación visual
Cubeiro, Carlos
Years ago, we came across academies that offered "computer" design courses. The offer was absurd and, of course, very unpromising. Just as being a virtuoso with scissors does not make one a fashion designer, the computer is simply a tool that is here to stay; but whose domain does not guarantee, in the least, our competence as designers. Knowledge of software is in no way linked to our value as design professionals. Sitting in front of a screen without some basic fundamentals of visual communication only serves to waste our time and, perhaps, that of those who have trusted us. Point, line, plane, geometry, golden section, modules, composition, format and proportion, balance, symmetry, asymmetry, two rules of composition, locations of an image, tension... and dozens of questions that clarify and enable a good designer. This manual is based on the presentation of the fundamental principles of graphic design. The procedural and conceptual tools do not expire and are the inexcusable knowledge that must be acquired to face the exercise of the profession. The rules, of course, are there for us to break from time to time, but we cannot afford to ignore them.
