Mañana y tarde

A boy is born who will be called Johannes. An old man named Johannes dies. Between these two points, Jon Fosse gives us the details of an entire life, condensed with great beauty. Beginning with the thoughts of Johannes' father as his wife goes into labor, and ending with Johannes' own thoughts as he embarks on a day in his life in which everything is exactly the same, but totally different, Morning and Evening is a work on the beautiful dream of our lives. The moments throughout the novel are simple and everyday, but Fosse's rhythmic prose deftly guides readers through the past and present.
