Madrid era una fiesta
Herrasti, Pedro
Madrid, 1924. Jorge Blanco had become the shadow of General Franco from his first battles in Africa until the revolution in Asturias. Now that he has returned to Madrid, promoted to captain of regulars, his life is not calmer for this reason. He has found the corpse of a policeman in the newly opened Student Residence, and there he is heading, following the request of the inspector, to clarify the case. Art will surround Jorge Blanco, who will be surrounded by the intellectuals of the time, from Carrere or Moreno Villa to the great geniuses such as Buñuel, Juan Ramón Jiménez, Dalí or Lorca (somewhat maddened); but he will also be surprised by the events, which surround his investigations like a whirlwind: communist revolts, eager to party, large doses of alcohol, a group of North American beauties ... A happy Madrid that dances to the rhythm of jazz in the sophisticated Rector's Club, which chatters at social gatherings such as the one in Gómez de la Serna's Pombo and protests against the Primo de Rivera dictatorship at the Ateneo or celebrates its first feminist acts. And, in the middle, the captain must be able to unravel a spider web that seems to have no end and that, deep down, hangs over him like a rope that is about to drown him ...
