The civil war in the former Yugoslavia has deprived the young woman, Arjeta Filipo, of her homeland. When she, at forty, finds some old photos of her during a move she suddenly understands much of her dark life story. In this way, she Arjeta re-examines the cracks in her consciousness and her life. Cherrywood is about the beleaguered city, Istria, the sea of her childhood and youth, and his escapades in the early '90s that changed everything. But, above all, it is about his stay in Paris, where she studied Philosophy and started a new life in a new language with Arik, a painter she fell in love with against her will. Misha Weisband, an ornithologist, becomes his confidante, while Nadezhda, a physicist, becomes his best friend. There is a secret that unites them, but also separates them. A secret that only Arik knows and keeps for many years.
