Los viajes más increíbles
maravillas de la navegación animal
Barrie, David
We have all marveled at seeing flocks of flying birds performing what appears to be a dance, or observing how storks nest each year in the same places. In this work, birds, fish or reptiles find their way: beetles that are guided by the light of the Milky Way; bees that navigate using patterns of light invisible to humans; sea turtles that find their way using the Earth's magnetic field. Also salmon that return to their birthplace following their nose, whales that swim thousands of miles while following a rock trail or birds that return to nest on a small island after crossing an ocean. There is a great diversity of animal navigation systems, which often use senses and abilities unknown to humans.
