Los santos salvajes

Monje, Natalia

The journalist and popularizer Natalia Monje chooses for her first novel an anthropological plot with touches of folk horror, about the construction of the enemy and fear, and the way in which this is perpetuated in dark practices that, although they seem disappeared, can be reactivated with a little change. The protagonist of it is a researcher who comes across the terrible death of a pregnant woman in a village in rural Galicia, apparently attacked by a stallion ox. What seems like an accident takes a more sinister turn when it turns out that the corpse of the fetus is nowhere to be found. Thus, a reflection is proposed in the form of an exciting novel about mentalities, about how myths are created, deformed and endure disguised through the centuries.
