Los rebeldes

Los rebeldes

Márai, Sándor

Just a few months before the end of the First World War, four young people finish their studies and face the last summer of adolescence. In a matter of weeks they will be called up and sent to the front, a front from which only dire news comes. Thus, united by their aversion to what maturity promises to offer them, Tibor, Ábel, Erno and Béla create a particular universe and play to defy all the rules: they drink and smoke excessively, play cards, invent extravagant stories, commit small thefts... In the absence of parents, uncles and older brothers, they carry out their own apprenticeship in life free from family control, until the appearance of an impromptu mentor, a mischievous actor who is passing through the city, will make his games, and their lives, rush down unsuspected paths that will lead them to a dramatic outcome.
