At the dawn of the Middle Ages, a lineage arrived from the East to the Peninsula that would reign for almost three centuries over that land that would be known by the name of Al Andalus: the Umayyads. The great kings who came from Syria would build eternal monuments such as the Mosque of Córdoba or Medina Azahara, and their desire for knowledge led them to favor those wise men who would achieve advances never seen before in agriculture, medicine or music, such as Abbás ibn Firnás, the first man who managed to fly; or Ziryab, still considered one of the best musicians in history.
