Los niños de Irena

Los niños de Irena

la extraordinaria historia del ángel del gueto de Varsovia

Mazzeo, Tilar

Irena Sendler, "the Angel of the Warsaw Ghetto", was a Polish nurse and social worker who, in World War II, saved more than 2,500 Jewish children condemned to be victims of the Holocaust. This is the story of how she did it, the story of the young and determined woman who went door to door, leading the little ones out of the walled city and who she wove a whole network of trusted people to hide them. Some of them narrate their experience in this book and thank Irena who, despite the terrible torture to which she was subjected, never revealed the identities of the rescued, who were safely hidden in a secret place until the end of the conflict . Irena's story is a story of resistance and courage, but also of an impossible love and, of course, of a historical period as terrible as it is real: the Second World War.
