Los muertos y el periodista

Los muertos y el periodista

Martínez, Óscar (1983- )

There are three corpses with names and lives in Los Muertos and the Journalist. There are more, but three are essential. Three poor Salvadoran brothers whose bodies were found disfigured (at least) in a cane field. This book tells their story. Have the three brothers really died in a confrontation between rival gang members? Who is protected by not investigating the evidence? What do the witnesses who dare to speak tell? But, along with his story, it tells several more: stories that make up the bottom of a modern abyss. Narcos, hitmen, corrupt policemen, unpunished murderers and politicians who cover up the crimes appear on these pages. In these pages there is little redemption. Doubts abound. Through the experiences lived by the author, who spent thirteen years covering one of the most violent corners of the planet, a world is told. And that world, which is ours, is a world that hardly anyone wants to hear about. The reader has in his hands a brutal and necessary text, which reflects on the risks, ethics and the need for the profession of journalist.
