This volume brings together all the storybooks that Willa Cather published or projected while she was alive: there are, in total, eighteen pieces that, from 1905 to 1947, the year of her death, cover the evolution in the genre of the short story and the nouvelle of a disparate writer, with an exceptional sensitivity to capture the effects of the passage of time and the change of place in the lives of characters that are commonly uprooted, or rebellious to a roots that confine their wishes and dreams.
