Although there is a copious bibliography on the presence of Spain in Morocco with regard to war conflicts and purely institutional aspects, reference is rarely made to the Spanish population that resided there, both in the former Spanish Protectorate and in the French Protectorate. . To alleviate this glaring gap, in this book numerous in-depth interviews have been carried out with people who lived in Morocco or still reside in it, also including selected passages from autobiographies, novels and other historiographical materials of the time. Throughout the profusely illustrated text, the direct witnesses of the events and their protagonists have been given a voice. Antonio García-Nieto thus revives an essential period of our recent history, making the current Spanish reader feel in the shoes of his -not so distant- compatriots and vividly and intensely evoke his unique experience.
