Mickey Haller's Lincoln Lawyer receives a text message that catches his attention: "Call me as soon as possible: 187." 187: the police code corresponding to the murder. When Mickey discovers that the victim had been a former client, a prostitute whom he believed to have rescued and led on the right path, he knows that he is indebted to the case. Stalked by the ghosts of his past, Haller has to work to exhaustion to solve a case that could bring him total redemption or prove his ultimate guilt.
