Los caballos inocentes
XXXIX Premio de Novela Felipe Trigo, 2019
Quirós Molina, Raúl
A group of old friends from the San Blas parish in Madrid meet at the home of one of them to remember their youth through the records, photos and experiences they shared between the late eighties and early nineties. Spectators amazed by the Movida, but oblivious to the lights and shadows that were sold during the Transition, will remember a history of Spain far removed from its most famous protagonists. The inertia of sexual repression, the lack of work, the irruption of drugs, and experiences such as adoption, divorce or abortion have marked his trajectory without anyone having reflected them in a song or a movie. The innocent horses tells the itinerary of some young people who wanted to be in a country that was born while the one they left behind did not finish dying. Raúl Quirós Molina delves into the history of Pablo, secretly in love with Freddy Mercury; of Pitita, who dared to love before anyone else; de Manolo, faced with the dilemma between working life and political commitment. From Angustias, Quique or Miguel Ángel, the only one of the boys who never reached the goal and to whom they save a chair in the meeting in case he appears at some point.
