Los 7 Borgia
una historia de ambición, refinamiento y perversidad
Martos Rubio, Ana
If there is a family in history that can be related to intrigue, that family is the Borgia family. The legend is partly right, as The 7 Borgia explains, they administered power in a sibylline way, through marriage, poisoning and military campaigns, but it is also true that this Machiavellian way of administering justice was common practice. The methods of Pope Alexander IV and those of his son, the leader César Borgia, were not alien to the other noble houses of the time. Ana Martos presents us with a rigorous historical work that, due to the characteristics of the family that she presents to us, will have a narrative tone full of strength and vividness. The story begins with the birth of Alonso de Borja, of humble origins but who ends up with the last redoubts of the rebel faction of Pope Luna, which will lead him to ascend socially and get to be named Pope with the name of Calixto III, from that moment, will change his surname to Borgia. That will be the beginning of the Borgia saga, Alonso's nephew, Rodrigo, will be Pope Alexander IV, a cunning politician who will not hesitate to use the military power of his son César and the charm of his daughter Lucrecia to increase power of the Vatican. Ana Martos will reveal to us that although the poisonings existed, they were a common practice in the politics of the time and that incest never existed.
