"Madness" and "art" are two words that, from the social imaginary, seem to travel common paths; perhaps because of that license to suppose that every creative act bursts in and modifies the spaces of certain daily certainties, unbalancing them. This essay is about the horror of those who dedicated their lives to creating beauty. The most illustrious names in the history of music, painting and literature parade through its pages: Shakespeare, Cervantes, Allan Poe, Rimbaud, Artaud, Piaf, Kahlo, Joplin, Stevenson, Hemingway, Nietzsche, Joyce, Van Gogh, Goya , Schumann, Tchaikovsky, Pizarnik and so many other artists who, while being tormented by voices, anguish, nightmares, demons and a captivating tendency to suicide, built a unique work that raised the spirit of humanity. A book about madness, but also about the high cost of understanding the world, life and reality too much.
