Lo que falta

Frank, Michael

One of the most harrowing experiences that can come to a woman in her late thirties who wants to be a mother is discovering that she can't. What Is Missing begins when Costanza Ansaldo, an Italian-American translator, travels to Italy one summer to give her life a new start, one year after the death of her husband, celebrated novelist Morton Sarnoff. Costanza is about to turn forty and she has made a fragile peace with both the mourning and the fact of not being a mother. On a visit to the Florence pensione where she used to stay as a child, she meets Andrew Weissman, a sensitive seventeen-year-old, and her father, Henry, a charismatic doctor specializing in reproductive medicine. The three meet again that fall in New York, where the love triangle will transform and become strained as the three delve into what it means to be a father, son or mother-to-be. Along the way, Costanza, Henry and Andrew will be forced to confront what is missing from their lives, uncovering important truths about fertility, marriage, family and personal history.
