In a cell with padded walls, a man wonders who could have kidnapped him and for what reason. Searching for clues, he delves into his past, from the moment he started working selling encyclopedias for the powerful publisher Schneider until he rose to higher positions. Dolores is a very unhappy woman, especially since the aliens abducted her boyfriend. She believes, and she is right, that life is obstinate in tripping her up. She studied Slavic Philology, but works cleaning horrible bathrooms while she dreams of moving to Paris and devoting herself to literature. The narrative and vital threads of both, that of Dolores and that of the captive man, will end up becoming entangled or perhaps they already were from the beginning.
