Economic freedom is an essential requirement for political freedom. This is the central thesis of Freedom to Choose, written in four hands by Milton and Rose Friedman. By allowing individuals to cooperate voluntarily, the free market system limits the coercive power of the state and acts as a dispersing force that prevents large concentrations of economic power in a few hands. To the paternalistic, interventionist and controlling State, the authors oppose the values ??of individual responsibility and initiative, personal autonomy and freedom of choice, and call us not to give up our freedom in exchange for a chimerical security.
