Libelo de sangre
Aza, Sandra
During the harsh winter of 1620, a horrible crime has spread panic in every corner of Madrid: a young woman has been raped and buried next to a child whose heart has been removed. Nobody in the town doubts that it was a ritual murder, and soon a "blood libel" against the notary Sebastián Castro and his wife emerges in the rumor mill, a false accusation that blames the Jews for sacrificing Christian minors to carry out black magic. Luckily, Alonso, the eldest son of the couple, has managed to escape from the Inquisition, in charge of investigating the crime, and from his horrible methods; but now he will have to face other no less terrible dangers: cold, hunger and the miserable people who populate the streets. Devastated and with no help other than two rogue vagabonds, he will try to carry out the only objective that keeps him alive: rescue his parents.
