Pietro is a city boy, lonely and a bit sullen, who summers in the Italian Alps. Bruno is the son of a bricklayer from the area, someone who only knows the mountains and who grazes his uncle's cows. They are only eleven years old and a whole world separates them. But, summer after summer, they forge a deep friendship while Bruno introduces Pietro to the secrets of the mountain.
