For Ruth, a new mother recovering from postpartum psychosis, every day is a challenge. She has been hearing voices coming from the walls for months and feeling that she cannot trust anyone. She not even of herself. When one night Ruth hears a scream coming from the neighborhood gas station, she assumes it is her mind playing tricks on her. The police have been blunt with her: she has to stop calling them. And her husband, Giles, is also sick of him seeing danger lurking around every corner. Ruth knows that the scream was most likely not real, but she cannot forget about it. What if she hasn't figured it out? What if she was the only one who heard it? What if someone needs help?
