Laberintos de la prosperidad
¿hacia una nueva Gran Transformación?
Costas Comesaña, Antón
Arias Moreira, José Carlos
Something important is moving under the previously apparently calm waters of the economy and democratic politics. For just over a decade, dissatisfaction about the behavior of the economy in some aspects, emerging technological horizons and a visible malaise of broad social sectors have given way to growing wishes to renew the current social contract. In the order of ideas the change is perceptible. The dogmas that marked the end of the twentieth century have given way to a more open conversation. Crucial questions such as what is the purpose of the company, what role should the States play in the economy, why inequality matters, how to better distribute the risks between the State, companies and workers, or reconcile the search for economic efficiency with social justice now have new answers. The pandemic, with its induced shutdown and restart effects, has accelerated these changes, so that some transformation processes seem to be projected inexorably into the future. They highlight the so-called double transition, technological and environmental, the breakdown of what we have known as globalization or the political crossroads associated with unrest. From all this emanates the opportunity to move towards a new prosperity, but the road will be full of doubts and risks. In this book, the authors analyze the complexity of this dynamic of multiple changes and propose to weave a thread -a new social contract for a digital and green, but decidedly inclusive economy- that can serve to guide us through these labyrinths.
