La volta de l'oca
De Luca, Erri
As in the game of goose, life has marked rules, but we trust in the fortune of the roll, so that the dice will be in our favor. One stormy night, a man rereads Pinocchio in front of the fireplace. The electricity has gone out and suddenly the protagonist feels the presence of the son he never had. He appears to her as an adult, but she recognizes him and speaks to him as if he were real. And so, little by little, the memories of his life are paraded: Naples, childhood, romantic relationships, fatherhood, passion for books... At one point, that lost son, that impossible interlocutor, takes the floor , like a kind of mirror, on the border between delirium and conversation.
