At first you are growing, and the world is a gift to open. In adolescence you discover others, and you also discover yourself. The first youth is presented as a blank book, full of first times. You can then find the person who will always accompany you. Or maybe not, maybe just for a while. You form a family of children, friends or animals. Or of all at once. Then warm maturity opens up before you. And, if you're lucky, old age. And you may not recognize your mirror image, but how glad you are to be here. Sometimes, as in this book by Lisa Aisato, time stands still and reminds us that life has stages that we all share and that deserve to be celebrated every day.
