La vida en llamas

In 2006, Luis Alberto de Cuenca won the City of Melilla Award for La vida en llamas, where he clearly opted for poetic classicism, for culture as salvation from the pain that devastates the world. The serenity of his previous collection of poems, Without Fear or Hope, does not crumble, but he trembles before the reality of the commonplace and stupidity, nightmares that lead to desolation and sadness. Once again, popular culture rubs shoulders with the classics, which he invites to approach as a form of entertainment, as an escape route from the threat of death or despair. Salvation will come through humor and love, reflected in the final section of the book, "Alice's Garden", where pain is healed in complicit arms.
