With the start of its "military operation" against Ukraine on February 24, 2022, Vladimir Putin's Russia has once again brought the war of aggression to European territory, causing scenes of destruction and suffering that take us back to the darkest moments of the 20th century and that directly challenge everything that the European Union stands for; It has caused, in the words of the European Council meeting on an extraordinary basis in Versailles a few days after the invasion, "a colossal turnaround in the history of Europe". The EU's reaction was immediate and unprecedentedly forceful, quickly crossing what until then had been "red lines" in its foreign and security policy, and then quickly adapting the measures to the evolution of the situation on the ground. . Unconditional support for Ukraine has even led the Union to formally and unusually quickly recognize this state as a candidate for accession. Faced with these events, the Spanish Federal Council of the European Movement (CFEME) has deployed an important effort of reflection and analysis throughout 2022, part of the results of which are collected in this publication in 33 chapters written by diplomats, professors, professors, politicians, professionals, researchers and young people.
