La taberna de Silos
Acebedo, Lorenzo G.
The first half of the 13th century runs when the abbot of the San Millán Monastery entrusts one of his servants, Gonzalo de Berceo, with the mission of traveling to the Silos Monastery to copy a Latin manuscript and make a Castilian poem with it. The secret intention of the visit is for the two monasteries to join forces against the pope and his bishops, who intend to keep the benefits of wine production, and against the strength of the Castilian nobles, also eager to enter the business. However, in the middle of the wine fever, a succession of murders as comical as they are gruesome complicates the situation. To make matters worse, Lope, a drunken pilgrim, and Elo, the local innkeeper, as young as she is cunning, insist on helping Berceo, becoming a constant nuisance that could ruin his mission.
