La seducción del mirlo blanco

textos sobre mi experiencia con la lectura y la escritura

Chukri, Mohamed

In "The Seduction of the White Blackbird", Mohamed Chukri describes his passion for books, his experience with reading and writing. It addresses the suffering of the writer when choosing the sources of inspiration that accompany him in the hard process of literary creation, and alleges that this is not carried out without a rich life experience. The author cites some Arab authors, such as Adonis, Al-Bayati, Naguib Mahfuz or Mohamed Zafzaf, and western ones, such as Cervantes, Shakespeare, Dostoevsky or Albert Camus. In this suggestive essay written in 1997, six years before his death, Chukri takes us to the world of books, to his world that constitutes the source of his writing, and makes us participate, almost at the end of his life, of his own literary experience.
