La ruta de los mogoles

La ruta de los mogoles

un viaje de Samarcanda a Hyderabad

Mazarrasa Mowinckel, Luis

In the spring of 1526 an army made up of Turkish-Mongolian tribes and clans defeated the last monarch of the Delhi Sultanate in northern India. Through the veins of the leader of the victorious horde, Babur, runs the blood of the Mongols Genghis Khan and Tamerlane, from whom he descends directly and has been expelled from Transoxiana -modern Uzbekistan- and from his most beloved city, Samarkand, by another tribe of warriors from Central Asia, the Uzbeks. Babur founded in Hindustan a dynasty, that of the Mughals or Mughals, which would remain on the throne of one of the richest nations on the planet until the mid-nineteenth century, when it would be overthrown by British colonialism. The author follows the trail of the Mughal emperors, especially the first six, those considered the greatest and most glorious, from Samarkand, Bukhara and other enclaves of the mythical Silk Road to the southernmost India, the largest border who reached his empire. An exciting journey by the hand of Luis Mazarrasa Mowinckel -an collaborator of El País- through the period of Mughal heyday that in its moment of splendor encompassed the territories currently corresponding to India, Pakistan and Bangladesh but which came to possess areas of Afghanistan, Nepal, Bhutan and eastern Iran.
