La política de la venganza

el fascismo y el militarismo en la España del siglo XX

Preston, Paul

If the political weight that the forces of the right and the forces of the left had in twentieth-century Spain were to be measured, there is no doubt that the balance would tip on the side of the former. And yet, paradoxically, historians have tended to pay more attention to the latter. The revenge policy comes to correct this deviation. In the nine essays that compose it, Paul Preston analyzes in an impartial and weighted way the interactions between fascism and militarism, from the assaults on democracy in the 1930s to the coup extremism of the Transition, passing, of course, by the Civil War and by Francoism. The set sheds new light on many different aspects of the contemporary history of Spain, and especially on the role that the Army and the Falange have played in it.
