La piel ausente
crónica del amor que se va
Amilibia, Jesús María
I don't know if this book is a novel, a non-fiction journal, or what. It is about the desire to die and to live. About love and the questions that it awakens. And about the pain, especially about the pain: hers, my wife, who asks me for death, and mine, who I cannot give it to her. This is the diary of a coward who overcame cancer and now faces the terminal cancer of his wife, weak. The diary of a guy who believes in the right to have a gun under his pillow to shoot himself when he sees fit. The diary of an old man who drags his slippers down the hall living what he never imagined that he would live. He wants to write about it with humor. He aspires to turn despair into a song. He wants to recreate everything with the asepsis of a surgeon. But reality almost always beats him.
