La noche de piedra can be considered a "rural thriller" and is the first of Alexis Ravelo's two novels devoted to evil (it would be followed by Los días de mercurio), understood as an ethical, social and ontological problem, and which is directly linked to the iniquity. Set in the island town of San Expósito, the book tells how its protagonists, moved by sex, money, the ambition for dominance or mere cruelty, inevitably evolve towards a last deadly encounter. Thus, intrigue, eroticism, violence, deconstruction of stereotypes and moral reflection intertwine in the territory of this story that involves an investigation into infamy, an ocular inspection of the basements of the human soul and the dark motivations that make man a wolf for man
