La nit portuguesa
Ventura, Gabriel
In early September 2018, the eccentric team of Andergraun Films, led by director Albert Serra and producer and actress Montse Triola, arrives in the Alentejo, southern Portugal, to shoot what will be the most provocative and provocative by the Banyoles filmmaker: Liberté, who will end up winning the prestigious special jury award at the 2019 Cannes Film Festival, in the Un Certain Regard section. Among the actors are two old glories of European cinema: Helmut Berger -adiscone of Visconti's cinema- and Ingrid Caven -fassbinder's muse-. The film will be shot at night, in the middle of the forest, where the sadistic sexual encounters of a group of libertines from the 18th century will be staged. To document this adventure, Albert Serra invited the poet Gabriel Ventura to write a chronicle of the shooting. The Portuguese night delves into the peculiar way of working -open to the unexpected and the random- of one of the most original directors of contemporary cinema.
