Anna is almost 10 years old and loves to read. She likes her so much that Monsen, the librarian, has become one of her best friends. One day, her friend tells Anna what happens to the books that nobody wants to borrow from the library. These books disappear, they are destroyed. But what happens to those who live inside those books, Anna wonders, do they disappear too? The idea that all this magical world and its inhabitants are lost forever is unbearable.
