La niña del mercado

La niña del mercado

Mínguez Pastor, Olga

It has not yet dawned when the old woman Candela Satorre wakes up with a start. A strange noise breaks the tranquility of a home silenced by memories. Someone has entered her house, and she is not going to settle for taking some valuables. She wants something more: to demonstrate her superiority, through a terrifying and theatrical staging. He wants Candela's life. Shortly before, Chief Inspector Leonardo Vélez received a strange anonymous gift: a beige envelope, decorated with a Greek border embossed around the edges, and a red sealing wax. His name is stamped on the front in black ink and Victorian calligraphy. The letter within him announces that he has started a macabre game in which the murderer will have to complete his own personal and dire blood circle. The victims are already marked, and he challenges the chief inspector to stop him. Almost a year after the resolution of the case of the girls of the cross, Leonardo Vélez is once again fighting against the clock. At the command of the Homicide squad, he will fight to fit each piece of the case, and of his life, in the right place. Physically recovered, serene and mature, he returns to the path of his police work, to show that pain and mistakes have not overshadowed his ability to enter the uncertain. Vélez will see his friendship with Juanjo Arjona strengthened and his differences with Carlos Linares enhanced. He will learn to meet Deputy Inspector Irene Garrido. And he will suffer the consequences of having lost the favor of Commissioner Pascual Mateos. He will live a case that will get complicated, challenging the intelligence of all the members of the brigade, forcing them to go back without remedy to a historical event that occurred almost eighty years ago: the bombing of the Central Market of Alicante.
