La musa de la Plaça Reial
Vallbona, Rafael
In the midst of the dark Franco period of permanent censorship, Vallbona takes us to a clandestine Barcelona of "bars, alcohol, girls, jazz, smoke and chimeras of dreams that were thought to be in Saint-Germain-des-Prés", traveled between others, by Joan de Sagarra and Vázquez Montalbán, and marked by the birth of the legendary Jamboree hall, which would soon feature the Jazz Brothers and Gloria Stewart, who became the city's jazz muse. The effervescence of this lively and alternative Barcelona was completely cut short with the murder of Francisco Rovirosa, businessman and owner, and the subsequent repression applied to jazz clubs and their main claims, among which Gloria Stewart counted.
