Madrid, 1877. The young Celia Gross works at the exclusive confectionery La Perla, in charge of preparing the desserts for the wedding of King Alfonso XII. Because of the precarious financial situation of her family, Celia marries an Austrian merchant, an old friend of the Gross. Together they embark on a trip to Reunion Island, where the young woman will discover the precious Bourbon vanilla and her many virtues. Adverse circumstances force Celia to return to Europe, where she will make her dream of training in the best pastry shops in Vienna come true and she will discover the mysterious circumstances of her father's death.
