La mujer del bosque
Connolly, John
It is spring, and in the forests of Maine, storms accelerate the thaw. Until, suddenly, when a tree falls, next to the roots the corpse of a young woman is exposed. Police and coroners investigating what may have happened soon find out that the woman gave birth shortly before she died. However, in the surroundings there is no sign of the newborn, who may now be about three or four years old. To find him, attorney Moxie Castin asks Detective Charlie Parker for help. But Parker is not the only one to have undertaken that search. Some time ago, someone followed in the footsteps of that young woman, someone who leaves corpses behind them. And in a house near the woods, a toy phone starts ringing. It sounds like a child who is about to receive a call from a dead woman. But when the dead call, only Charlie Parker dares to answer.
